ok guys, i must have been under a rock but whats the deal with redfield scopes? there's a lot of happy hunters out there with them and made by leupold in oregon to boot. i guess my questions are, how the heck does the accu range work? does the scope require a battery now or is it all based on the users input, and if you have one, how accurate have you found it to be (range finding that is)? can you range a tree or a rock with it or does it only work with animals because you use the back and belly of the animal as an aprox measurement and the scope calculates it to an aprox distance from the shooter...and if thats the case wouldn't it measure different from a moose to a whitetail deer?

i have a bushnell 3200 now and i am happy with the scope, how would you compare them to each other? pro's/con's? the 3200 has been working pretty good up to this point so unless the redfield is leaps and bounds better then the bushnell i may as well stay with what i have now.

thanks guys, looking forward to hearing your comments.

I can let you know in about a week or two, as I just ordered a Redfield Revolution 2-7x33 Accurange.

Reviews overall seem favorable. Accurange is similar to other BDC reticles - no batteries required. I'm not that keen on such reticles, but I wanted a smaller magnification scope than my Elite 3200 3-9x40 currently on my 30-06. I decided to go with Redfield, sight unseen, as they currently have a $30.00 rebate on that scope.

I have a redfield 4-12 right now. I haven't used it for range finding so I can't comment on that. One issue I have with it is the large differnce in eye relif between 4 power and 12 power. Doesn't suit the style of shooting I use it for (gophers and targets) so i'm currently looking at other options.

i have a 3-9 evolution with accurange reticle.. all it means is there are mildots an aimpoints for different ranges.
google it an you will understand.
unless im missing the range finder scope :s

apart from that its a sturdy piece of glass an metal for a huntin rig

My back up scope in my Nemesis rig is a Redfield Revolution 4X12X40, they are very clear and reliable... JP.

I have the 4x12 and I love it, the price is great and any other scopes in that price brackett can't hold a candle to it.

Yah no battery powered range finder in the scope, just lines that tell you where to aim at a range you already know

Thats a pretty loose term. When hunting, sometimes from 300 and farther, it is hard to judge. Now if you are plinking at your local target set-up....then yeah, you already know the yardage. I love my Redfield!!!! No more having to use my range finder, then set it down to grab the gun.

wait, its even better than I described? like the line moves or something?

When you "bracket" the animal using the power selector, there is a secondary horizontal line at the top that moves downward. Once you reach the bracket, check where this upper line is. The upper vertical crosshair is marked numerically. If the upper horizontal line is at the #4 = 400 yards. Your scope is sighted in for 200. Then you use the 2nd mildot as the holdover point.

I`ve checked this accu ranger on a large rock. It showed it was 300 yards, I then tried my hand held range finder and it showed 299 yards! Pretty darn impressive.

Redfield

Hard to explain, but I dont always get a round image if move head slightly. Mine is 4-12. Almost like I can see the inside of the tube. Like I said hard to explain. My Leupolds dont do this.
