I have a fairly simple question I think. I got a redfield jr 600 IER mount for my remington 600. Want to make a scout rifle, ie scope forward of the action.
There is a notch at the rear of the mount that is suppose to fit on to a enlarged recoil lug. Mine does not have the enlarged version. The instruction say that a little block (supplied) is to be used in this case, of which of course it wasn't, helps in recoil? Well I think any mount that is held with 4 screws would be enough, especially with a .308.? Had to google 600 actions to see what high lugs look like. Can I just go ahead and mount with the 4 screws and don't worry about it. Any thoughts.. Thanks Johnl
