I've found the plastic Norinco M305 stocks to be very slippery. Adding adhesive tape for a non skid grip is a no no uner SR rules. What to do? I tried checkering with my checkering tools but the plasctic is tough and the result isn't too good.
I had a brain wave. I first used a stencil making hot cutter to melt in checkering but that was slow. I pulled out the soldering gun with the wide flat tip. It went faster with a better result. I used a flexible steel ruler for a guide to slide the soldering guide tip along. Checkering is usually 30° to the horizontal so I penciled one line each way and melted the first line and then layed the rule beside the last line at the distance I figured was good and went for it. ( It's a Norinco, you aren't working to a thousandths of an inch:p). On the bottom I free handed it. The purpose is for grip not looks. It's not a Holland and Holland.
Adjust your speed as required and don't be afraid to go back over the lines as required. You may have to touch up the first row after the second one is done. Push in steady on one spot and you will melt though the stock. I didn't but you could.
Does it look redneck? Sure does. Is it less slippery? Sure is a way better grip now.

Looks like it worked we needed. I wonder how one of them old school kids wood burner ( kit ) would work for the same job?

For the time you put into it, a better picture should be posted. All I see is a black stock with faint lines.
