Hi Guys...

So... I have an OLD Daisy model 95... it was my dad's when he grew up... my first gun... and soon it will be my son's first BB gun...

It is showing its age, and I wanted to fix it up... the wood was no problem... just oiled it a bit, didn't even need to sand it!

The metal is a different story... it is finished in a black paint (I thin it's baked on), that is chipped, worn, and old... how can I re-finish it without just buying black spray paint? Should I strip it? Sand it? How should I re-finish it?

I'm going to replace all the screws as they are all unmatched, and thrown together...

Here's what I'm starting with:

Any input would be great.

Not sure what the original finish on the metal is, but you might want to try a chemical paint remover. That would be the easiest by far if it works, and would leave the metalwork all intact. After that, it depends how much effort and $ you want to put into it. You could use a gun-kote type product, or simply spray it with Krylon or a similarly durable paint that would make it easier to touch up whenever needed. Another option would be to have it powder coated, again depending on cost, and what you're prepared to put into it.
