Hi folks,

Well it's been a short while since I finished a refurb. Here's one I'm fairly satisfied with. The colour matching could have been better. I couldn't completely clean the forend and the butt, so that leaves definite room for improvement. The nose cap isn't refinished, I'll ask the owner if he'd like it looking more "new". I refinished this one for an acquaintance (the man who gave me my restricted firearm training - a fine gentleman!)

Cheers,

Lou

Looking good! I'd like to create a No.1 Mk.5 clone with some No.1 wood and a No.4 action. I've got a spare beech No.4 mk.1 wood set, maybe we should work a deal :)

going to be a hell of a project, the MkV had a rounded reciever like the NoIII

I think your talking about the MKVI trial rifles.

You may be right. I recall someone showing off a rifle a little while ago that looked like an SMLE but had No.4 style sights. Maybe this is a topic for another thread? Don't want to highjack Lou's latest effort!

Hey no problem revilo, as long as we're talking Lee Enfields I figure we're on topic :D

I wonder how complex that project would be.

Lou

Just reading my post from last night and I see I made a mistake

MkV and MKIII both had the rounded reciever the MkV had a sight similar to the No4 rifles.

The MkVI was the early trial rifle that became the No4MkI so if your going to take a regular No4 and try to make it look like anything it would be a MkVI.

(drinking a little wiskey last night) ;)
