Hi all,

Bought this Molot import SKS back in may and was not happy with the condition of the stock. Spent some time stripping the old finish off, sanding to a glass like smoothness then slowly building up a new boiled linseed oil finish. Time will tell how it holds up to shooting and handling, but its a much better looking rifle now IMO!

For those with good eyes you'll also notice I swapped out the rear sight for a williams peep sight. Haven't shot with it yet but can already tell it wont be any better than the original - should have got tech sights!

The wood took the oil just fine, the trick is to apply light coats and let it dry fully between them. After sanding I let the first coat soak in for 24hrs then just did another coat every night for 3 days. Its a nice matte finish, super smooth and not greasy!
