I want to put a stainless steel or chrome finish on the slide of my glock 22 some time in the near future...I was wondering who, where, how much this would cost, or even if i could do it with some stainless steel spray paint...any thoughts?

This was in EE, and I asked what and where. It is a nickle plating and it was done at smokinggunfx.

It seems they are not doing any until into the summer due to a move.

it's nice! PS I hope the owner doesn't mind me posting his pic.

hard chrome or electroless nickel I think are your only two options. you can't magically make it stainless steel.

ive been told that i can still shoot ipsc production even though the finish has changed...is there a reference in the rules about that?

cheers

You can't.

Read rule Appendix D4, 19.1.

19. Original parts and components offered by the OFM as standard equipment, or as an option, for a specific model
handgun on the IPSC approved handgun list are permitted, subject to the following:
19.1 Modifications to them, other than minor detailing, are prohibited. Prohibited modifications include
changing the original color and/or finish of a handgun, and/or adding stripes or other embellishments.
