Refinishing a VZ58? (metal parts)

I realise there are a lot of threads on the mods and refinishing of the stocks on these guns but that's not what I'm wondering about. After having my vz for a little over a month, I've decided that I dont like the paint job. Looks to commercialised for me. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for refinishing it. Are there any legal issues in regards to the markings on the gun that I should know about? Thanks.
 
Just like with any firearm you could have it bead (or sand)-blasted and painted, any one of several places can do that for you, or you can do it yourself with duracoat/armacoat if you have the setup for that sort of thing. As far as the markings, they should be etched so unless you went crazy with blasting the metal there shouldn't be any issues - as far as I am aware as long as the serial number stays readable you're good to go...
 
The new painted serial numbers on my VZ58 came off after sandblasting so I re-registered the firearm with the original serial number found on the side of the rear sight base (verifier required).
