Im dyin to get my hands on a blued/black bobtail 1911 commander but the only one in my price range it the dan wesson and it only comes in stainless. What options are out there to refinish stainless to a black/parkerized color...and is it durable too?

You can buy the Ed Brown Bobtail mainspring housings and they even sell a jig to help you cut your frame if you want....pretty easy.
There was a Gun nut a couple of years ago who did one on the new style Norinco commander and it looked real nice.....

A user here T M G Services runs a company that can blacken stainless in some form. I ran into this on another thread and I'm keeping his PM about it for when I need this option. You may want to look into that.
