How can I refinish the end of my barrel?
I have a scout in 376 steyr.
Put some bore-brass remover in the barrel and surely some went on the tip. The coating just went off like cheap paint.
For the ones asking, hoppes black.
Here is the pics.

It looks blued so some cold blue would help hide it but unlikely to be a perfect match and does not last like hot blue or rust blue. That cleaner may have an acidic component as acids will remove bluing.

If it’s blued you should be able to touch it up as previously mentioned. I’ve had pretty good luck with small areas using cold blue paste from birchwood Casey. Also as mentioned, it probably won’t be a perfect match, the bigger the area, the more noticeable it is.

I have some Cold Black solution ( like cold blue) I got years ago somewhere, gives a nice black finish, Have not seen it for yrs.
I have some Outers cold blue I picked up at Canadian tire while back that is darker than the benchwood casey paste I find, it is liquid, so use a bit on a q tip, degrease I use brake cleaner spray ( on a cloth), works good for me for stuff like this. after, lightly buff with coarse cloth or 0000 steel wool, oil.
If it is blackened stainless , will not work.
