Hey,

I'm planning on refinishing my stock, and I have a few questions. First, I was told to just use some stripper to to start with. Then I was told that if I had any dings, now would be the time to take them out. Then I would obviously sand the stock down until I feel happy with it. I'm planning on using the wash cloth and iron method. I've also read that one of the best ways to get a good solid "base" is to soak the stock in some kind for a while? Has anyone done this? I'm also looking for a good oil to use. Any suggestions? Does this method sound like it will work? Thanks,

Cory

I just sanded the living piss out of mine coming down through the grits until I came to crocus cloth. Then I used the Birchwood Casey stock refinishing kit that has stain and oil which gave a really beautiful finish. Highly recommend it.
