Not sure it's for me. Seems like it would help some with tac reloads, although I wonder if it would make re-arranging mags more difficult. I would tend to want my fresh mags up front and the spent mags in behind, rearranged in some order of less ammo to more ammo. As soon as you pull out the fresh mag though, the mag you just changed out would spring to the front. I could see having to do some extra re-arranging to get everything where I would want it with respect to front/back.

What do others think of it?
 
Definitely want that, hate the flaps and elastics on current mag pouches. Theres nothing blocking your mag change and keeps mags in place. Plus it removes the need for a dump pouch. Only problem is you need a pouch with only one mag off the start (if your firearm has a mag seated already), just means you have an even amount of mags though. Wondering how durable the spring loaded part is. Cool idea for sure
 
Solution looking for a problem... Empty mags shouldn't be going back in the pouch, that's the whole point of a dump pouch.

Agree there. I only think you want to remotely think about this for tactical reloads. If the mag is dry, into the dump pouch for sure.

You can have the pouch full because on a tac reload you need to have a mag in your hand before you remove the mag from your rifle.

Well that's how I have been taught.
 
This system would eliminate the dump pouch if used properly, half full mags are better then no mags. Tactical changes will just have to be remembered, training and practice would make this system better then the current dump pouch one

And I kinda read your post wrong, you mean you take out the old mag and seat a new one then dump the old one?

Yes but that's only part of the story... in a proper tac reload, you pull out the fresh mag first, then bring it to the gun, remove old mag with the same hand while still hanging on to the fresh mag, rotate 90 degrees, and insert fresh mag. Then take the partial mag and put it wherever it needs to go. That way the gun spends the minimal amount of time without a mag in it.
 
So if you got quick enough then you could grab the empty mag and pouch it then grabbing the new mag and seating it, since both mags (fresh and empty) are stored together. That way you don't have two mags in one hand. The only reason I can see grabbing a fresh mag before dumping the old one is the time it takes to let go at dump pouch and reach to mag pouch and seat it. I'm not military or LE though so I have no in field experience to base my theory on

Trend is for light weight, not heavier. I ain't stickin empty mags with my full ones, I'm dumping them on the ground.
 
As soon as I wrote that I knew someone would point that out. I'm like Magpul in that I have a lot of theory based ideas... Some work and others crash and burn. And to be fair I wanted to serve my country but wasn't ready, and now it's too late.

When under stress you go deaf, you see the world through a straw and fumble like you have never fumbled before.
If you need to remember which mag is which, you won't.

You can train to perform better but simpler is always going to be better.

That said I like how it presents the front mag higher and easier to grab.
 
kratos are you currently in the forces? and ive been taught the tac reload as described earlier grab a new mag reload then replace the old one how ever i was taught to always have a "holy sh*t" mag easily accessible for ... "holy sh*t" situations in which case you would flick your rifle to eject the mag to the ground while reloading/drawing a mag with the left (free) hand so in this case that new pouch would be amazing, and even in regular context i think it would be awesome to have one for short engagements use it for prolonged fights feed from your rig and reorganize the pouch after the conflict to make sure your always ready. seems like a truly amazing piece of kit!
 
No, I wanted to and wasnt ready and now I can't.
