Hello gang!
I've recently come into possession of a snider-enfield cadet carbine and I was wondering,
Is it necessary for one to reform a full brass 24 gauge shotgun shell (aside from cutting it down to 2 inches) for it to fit in the chamber?

I'm asking because i noticed a few youtubers just using plastic hull 24 gauge shells without any alterations for light practice rounds, and wondered if the same would be true for the full brass hulls.

Regards,

Yes, the brass cases must be formed to fit the chamber after trimming. If you don'twish to buy the dies (many don't as you can simply insert .60 bul.ets by hand in fire formed brass) there is a fellow who sells formed brass from Washington state when it's available.

I've a set of Dies should all else fail.

When forming just make sure that you are not using the old NDFS dies that are built on the standard 7/8" body rather than CH4D or Lee dies that are the large size. The NDFS dies tend to crack if used for forming I can attest to this from my own experience.

Shorten anneal the case mouth lube and run through your sizing die they are thin cases and the resizing is easy
