Reforming brass

I am looking at the possibility of trying to turn 308 casings into 7mm 08 casings. This is something new to me I have a few questions.

1) Does one just run some .308 casings in a 7mm 08 FL die, trim, load a mild
load, and shoot to fire form ?

2) Are the resulting brass just as good as direct store bought ? ( Assuming
quality brass was used )

3) Is this all too big of a pain and I should just buy some ?

( Reason is I have a good supply of very good 308 brass on hand that I'm not using)

That is not the truth all the time, some 308Win brass has thick brass to contend with. You can just form and shoot only if your loaded 7-08 round's neck dia is slightly less than .315". I find I have to turn down the necks on some Federal, Lapua and military 308 Win brass necked down to 7-08 Rem.
