Since the 257 Weatherby (and for that matter the 300 Weatherby) were originally formed from the venerable 300 H&H as was the 7mm Rem Mag and what appears to be the 300 Win Mag (Although Hornady mentions that it came from the 338 Win Mag). The dimensions are very similar to the 7mm Rem & the 300 H&H. I have resized 7mm Rem mag to 257 Weatherby. My question is... has anyone ever resized 300 Win Mag to 257 Weatherby or 300 Weatherby? If so is there any special precautions.

Thanks

buy remington 7mm weatherby brass and resize those. all the cartridges you mention are based off the 375 h&h, including the 300 h&h. resizing the 300 win mag would involve cutting the case to proper length then sizing up to lose the shoulder then sizing down to weatherby specs. this would probably have to be done in several steps. there are just easier ways.

just do what countless 257 Wtby owners have been doing for decades, neck down 7mm Rem Mag or 264 Win Mag brass,....necks are a little shorter than 257 brass but it's really a non issue.

I use new Winchester 7mm Rem Mag brass and just lube the necks with Imperial lube. New cases don't even touch the sides of my .257 FL die, so there's no sticking issues. Less lube to clean off too.
