I have done a search and couldn't seem to find an answer to my question.

I recently purchest one of the SKS brought into Canada here. Upon initial cleaning and dissassembly it became apparent that this SKS has not been fired since refurbishing. (not a mark in the paint hardy any paint removed from the action moving and looked like the hammer has hit the back of the firing pin maybe a handful of times). Numbers all match except the laminate stock was forced matched.

Its a 1954 tula.

I know a non refurbished unfired SKS is worth keeping unfired, how about a refurbished one?

I am guessing these are a dime a dozen however just in case I thought I would ask.

Thanks for any insight.

thats what i want to know .

are all bell shipment SKS unfired after refurb?

I bought 2 of them... also picked one up for a buddy. The one my buddy got was an earlier hard wood stock 1951 I think also tula. It was in very good shape also, however when we pulled his apart there was residue on the gas piston and you could tell a couple rounds had been through it.

I have already brought all of my Soviet SKS's (3 unissued 1 refurb) to the range. My 54 Izhevsk refurb will be my regular range rifle.

You have to appreciate the fact that here in Canada our ability to own these firearms can be ended by the simple passing of an Order in Council by Parliament. The Fiberals have already made their intentions known regarding banning all handguns and semiautomatic rifles if they are elected. They won't hesitate to do this if it will give them a few extra votes in Vancouver-Toronto-Montreal.

There is no prize for turning in your mint unfired rifle to be scrapped. Don't hesitate to use them.

I was asking simply because if I did pick one up worth something I'd just go buy a second to shoot.

However seems my question is answered so I'm going to the range this weekend.

How many round can I fire in a single day?

I am glad I got one of these evil semi automatic miltary type rifles with a bayonette. Simply because there is almost no way they will reposess them from everyone who has them. They may however create a new class of prohibited and those who have them already will be grandfathered into that single class of prohibited and none of the others.

From my understanding this has happened before.

Why can't we have a senseable government with senseable gun laws?

Milarm. They said to clean em out pretty good there was no cosmoline in them but tons of oil. Most were in very good condition all refurbs with very minor paint scratches here and there due to shipping (some may not have had any). Also the bottoms of the magazines are all painted with a different flat black from the plug being welded into the bottom to limit the mag to 5 rounds.

Also most of them were tulas but the guy said he did see a few iszvek (Probably spelled that wrong)

They sold 4 in the time I was in there, I'm glad i didn't wait for the weekend to go pick one up. If any other gun stores get some I might pick up a second just to sit on it for a while.

A month or two ago I woulda paid probably 400 bucks, maybe a little more, for an norinco one cuz I wanted one so bad. I was very pleased when I discovered they got russian ones in and they were going for cheap.

i must say that im pretty pleased with both IZH and BELL shipments , quality wise .

yours at the bottom of the collectibles , you can do either , collect or shoot .

and you are right that would be plenty in that category . but in the USA , they would kill for what you have , they class yours as "unissued" (marketing tool by vendors) bcos there is so few real unissued there.
