Just got my PAL and I wanted to get a surplus rifle. Which is the best in terms of price and ammo availability (price and easy to get)?

You looking for a semi or a bolt action? A jungle carbine Enfield in .303 or a m44 Mosin in 7.62x54r are fun to shoot if you like fire breathing surplus bolt guns..

Something in 6.5x55 Great round and fairly easy to find . Husqvarna M38 , was going to say Lungman AG42-B but it hit the ban list , a mile long and weighs a ton , go figure . Boys in TO want them LOL !

For bolts I'd go with Swiss, Lee Enfield or Mosin. SKS is still a good choice but .39 is getting more expensive as surplus dries up.

Anybody have anything good to say about the Carcano m91 carbine. Looks like a cool gun although ammo is expensive. Looks like a smaller more rugged version of the sks, lol this coming from a newbie of course!
