So I finally bought a restricted firearm and today the transfer was completed (yay) but I was just curious about the registration certificates that are issued for restricted firearms. How long does it usually take to get them? My package is going to arrive soon and I've yet to receive mine in the mail.

Hey I have a quick follow up. I received a letter in the mail with all firearms info on it (numbers, make, etc) and it also notified me that my actual certificate would be coming in the mail soon. Can I use this letter to take my firearm to the range in the meantime until I receive my actual certificate?

yes you can. I called CFO. and asked if I could go to range with just the transfer notice and they said it was ok, but I'm in Ontario. As long as you have your ATT. and your ATT covers all guns registered to you, your good. The transfer notice you received has all the same pertinent info your registration cert. will have.

In BC, we need the actual registration certificate. It's specified on page 3 of our LTATT and I called in and checked with the CFO's office a couple of weeks ago and they confirmed that also.
