Finally, after 5 weeks of waiting my new Nork 1911s are here. Marstar was awesome to deal with, I just had some delays with the transfer process. They want an ATT to transfer, for that they wanted my range membership proof. Crazy CFOs office... But like I said, Marstar was awesome to deal with.

Anyways, here I've got two restricted firearms, and my ATT. All legal like, and in my name. However, the ATT states I must have firearms registration with the firearm. I've got nothing, no papers at all. Now I'm a n00b to this brand new and restricted thing. What's going on? Should they have shipped paperwork? Is there something I need to do/call to complete registration?

I know I don't really have anything to worry about. But I'm a bit nervous about he situation.

Thanks guys,

Oh, and yes I'll get pics up, just let me get the suckers cleaned up first.

Dave you should get your certificates in a couple of days......famous white envelope with a free green sheet in it.You will know what I mean when you open it.

If you want to go to the range before the paperwork arrives, call the CFC or your CFO and get them to email or fax a copy of the registration certs to you. They may just give you the new registration number over the phone, that is acceptable as well.

I just phoned the CFO to ask if I can transport a firearm while still waiting for the registration to show up and they said I needed the paper. They also said the registration number is not enough, you need the paper. I was then transfered to the registration department that was closed. So I phoned the national line to see if I could get an email copy and was told I had to wait for the one in the mail. I was told that if I get caught without registration my gun will be confiscated but on the good side I have 14 days to prove ownership to get it back. I guess I wait for the registration to show up.

Yep the sit around and wait .the system is poor you can go buy restricted firearms ,but they will take a wk at least for paper work and if you dont live in the area then you need to pick it up or have it shipped. So you get it shipped it goes threw a 100 unathorized hands but you buying it with a proper lic cant leave with it (especially when you have restricted guns at home) makes alot of sense.

Go figure

Isn't it bizare that, from the point that the CFC tells the dealer that the transfer has gone through, it takes less time to ship a gun through the mail than it does an envelope with a certificate in it.
I've been in the same cercumstance a couple of times.
Shake your head...

Well it all turned out ok I guess. Went to the range(without my new gun) got stuck in traffic jam by the time I got there it was closed :( The next day my registration shows up so I am set for the weekend now.

hmm...i thought as long as you have the intial letter stating that the transfer is completed, that you can take ownership of the firearm, at least thats what it saids in the letter.

You can take ownership and have it shipped to your house with the notice of transfer (the CFO will fax you that)...but to take it to the range you need the certificate. I live in free AB and specifically asked the CFO 3 different times, every time was told I need to wait for the actual certificate to be in my possession.

Apparently it's legal to have photo copies of the certs if you want so you don't lose the originals, but if you don't have the cert they can confiscate it until you go to the station with proof of ownership...who knows what can happen once it gets into their hands....might get "lost".

Wait for the cert!
