So...
the conservative party should be scrapping the registry soon and I'm wondering, do you still need an ATT for firearms?
I realize I now don't need to jump through flaming rings to register a long gun but if I go to the gun store do I still need to wait for them to sort out paperwork etc. etc. before I can take my gun home?

Any help appreciated
Sorry, rawther a newbie question, but this IS the newbie section.

The ATT requirement for restricted firearms is absolutely unrelated to registering longarms.
As far as needing to jump through flaming hoops to register a long gun goes, there has been absolutely no change in the existing law.
Whatever changes are made will not take effect for many months.

Sorry, my fault for the poor wording. I realize that the registry has yet to be scrapped. Thanks for the help
