sureNever said they were. My post reads "depending on what you're using them in, small rifle primers might also work. I use them in my Ruger #1 in .357."
.357 Magnum brass does not come with large primer pockets. Starline, however, made a run of .44 Magnum brass for HSM that have small primer pockets.
On top of the fact LR are even harder to find and more expensive than any LP I haven't found a pistol or revolver that will reliably accept ammo primed with the taller LR primers and set them off.I haven't worked up aload yet but some are using rifle primers. From what I've read they usually jut have to drop the powder a grain or 2.
You'd hope your gun will reliably set them off.Not saying I’m going to do it, but just for discussion’s sake what if I ran a large rifle primer pocket uniformer into some 44 Mag brass? I’ve got more large rifle primers than I can ever use.
While from a purely technical point of view it would probably work but unless you're really short of LP primers and have no other choice I think it's wasted effort. You'll likely be making the brass unusable for LP primers. Also, given the current shortage of LR primers and the premium prices they are commanding you would be better off financially selling them and using the profit to stock up on more available LP primers. Not saying I’m going to do it, but just for discussion’s sake what if I ran a large rifle primer pocket uniformer into some 44 Mag brass? I’ve got more large rifle primers than I can ever use.
