I'm relatively new to waterfowl hunting and I've been wanting to get out on the Ottawa river (in Quebec). Only thing thats been stopping me is that I have no idea what the regulations are in terms of where I can hunt, how far away from houses and/or the shore I need to be and if certain areas are completely off limit to hunters. Does anyone have the answers to these questions? Where could they be found?

Thanks for the help CGN

^Good luck with that. Chances are you'll need to sit down with someone totally fluent in both languages to get even an understanding about QC hunting reg's. AFAIK they are not printed in English. Maybe this has changed since?? Or maybe not?

Last time I checked (late 1980s) an Ontario resident purchasing just a QC small game licence was about $100.

Actually all the hunting regulations are available in English. http://www.mddefp.gouv.qc.ca/faune/reglementation-en/chasse/

Waterfowl is mentioned here (under small game): http://www.mddefp.gouv.qc.ca/faune/reglementation-en/chasse/periodes-limites/limites-prise.htm

Rates: http://www.mddefp.gouv.qc.ca/faune/chasse/tarif-permis-en.htm

Or you can just ask for the paper booklet wherever you buy your license ... they run out of the French ones pretty quickly, but usually have a few English ones around.
