Hey all. I picked up an old 60s aya single shot recently but the wood at the head where it meets the action has shrunk over time in such it makes a click when pushed on. There is a very thin line of light present between the wood and the tang when held against the light. So what is the best option to strengthen this area to avoid a cracked stock? Brass pin? Glass bedding? Threaded all rod?
Would prefer a more cosmetically appealing repair as it still sports nice case colors

I would suggest looking at Lee Valley Tools site for their dyes for the likes of bedding materials. Going by memory, they had a pretty decent assortment of dry powder dyes that could be safely mixed with epoxy or glass bedding materials to match up the color pretty well.

Not sure if Brownells supplies dyes for their glass kits, but that is like to be your best bet, aside from looking for a new block of wood to make a stock from.

There is some pretty good info on the Treebone Stocks website, on bedding together stocks and butt plates and the like, may give you some ideas too.

Soak the end in a 50/50 mix boiled linseed oil/thinner.

Might take a few days to swell up enough to swell enough to fit snug.
