Relining a remington hepburn no 3

Gentlemen,
I've recently acquired a remington hepburn #3 in 38-55.
The rifle is in good condition, no rust or cracks with some colouring remaining.
Unfortunately the bore is very poor with pitting and worn rifling.
I've shot cast loads with poor results. 12" patterns at 50 yards.
My question is would I be ruining the value of this old gun by relining it or should I just sell it and move on?

I would reline. What value is there in a gun you can't shoot?
Relining done really well can be almost undetectable too. Finding the right person to do the work might take a little homework.

Other option is a new barrel and keep the old one so it can be put back to original.
 
Reman Liners can be had from www.nine35.ca barrels can be ordered from various places but if they are coming from state side export paperwork required , exchange, brokerage.
Then there is finding the correct builder to thread chamber etc. If it needs new wood there is that as well as the Hepburn buttstock and buttplate is a bad design.
 
I would reline it with a TJ liner ordered through nine35. I use the 1:14, 375 liners in my 38-55’s and they are excellent. They cost $11.50/inch so do add up but then so does a new barrel.
 
Personally I'm in the fix guns to keep them working club. If the transmission in your truck starts slipping you replace it or have it rebuilt. I don't understand why gun owners sometimes think untouched original is better. Put a liner in the barrel and enjoy. It should be almost undetectable if done properly.

I'm trying to get as much advise as I can before I make a unreversable decision.
Although rebarreling with an aftermarket barrel and keeping the old barrel would solve that problem.
