Just looking for a ballpark load recipe for using Reloader 15 in the 9.3x62mm. I've come across data for use in the M-98 action but my rifle is a model 46A that was converted from the 57 to the 62. It's one of the M-96 based actions, so I don't want to grenade the action.

I know all rifles are different, but a starting point would be nice. As far as I can tell, the rifle seems to have a generous chamber but headspace is good. I have some pieces of brass that has been 5x fired with no problems so far, if it matters. Any thoughts appreciated from other 9.3 owners running M-96 actions.

IIRC I found some data sheets from a gun mag that gave a starting load of 54gns of RL-15 under a 280gn bullet. I regularly use 55gns in my Husky 649 under the same bullet wieght. The maximum load they showed was 57gns under a 285gn bullet. I tried it - didn't see any scary pressure signs - until I went to reload the brass. It had become so work hardened from that single firing I could hardly resize it. Back to 55gns and even that may be too much for some rifles. The Bullet Barn in BC has some nice cast lead 280gns with gas checks. I'm using them now at about 2200/2300fps and will see how bad they are leading my barrel - if at all. As with all reloading be careful and use the info at your own risk.

You might also check the Swedish And Civilian Arms forum of Gunboards.com. I know there is a "sticky" about loading the 9.3x57 which has a lot of useful data. As your x63 is a 96 action, the 57 data might be a place to start.

45/70, I'd be interested in further reports on those Bullet Barn bullets. I got some a while ago but haven't had time to fire 'em up in my Husky 9.3x57.

ps: here is some info I had salted away from "muledeer" on 24-hr. campfire. This is for the 9.3x57 but t might be useful for reference:
Put some Re 15 into the case and plant the 250 gr TSX in the neck. Done! Ammo ready. Or at least, if it turns out like my load with 53 gr of Re 15 behind the 250 gr Woodleigh. It chronographs 2289 fps at 10 ft off the muzzle, so it's close enough to 2300 fps to suit me. If that doesn't suit you, try 50 gr of IMR 4895 -- it's giving the 250 Woodleigh 2272 fps, which is close enough. Start lower and work up, of course, with my powder charges, but they aren't showing a hint of pressure in my 46.

Darn it all... now you've made me want to put other urgent business aside and go play with my 93.!

:) Stuart
