Just wondering if anybody has tried RL7 in their 308's. I'd like to try some with 154gr-190gr bullets and I'm looking for a place to start. It's a hair faster on the burn rate chart from the traditional 308 powders so I'm not sure how well it's going to work.

I'm using RL7 is some experimental lead loads for my M305. 165gr cast bullet, 22,24 and 26gr of RL7, expecting ~2000fps.

I'm taking these loads out the the range next week, I'll let you know how it goes.

RL-7 would be okay in the .308 for reduced loads esp. cast bullet loads, it has become quite popular for cast bullet loads in alot of cals.

its a pretty fast powder.. which tells me it would have alot of presure and not much fps ... reduced loads is about it like ben said.

go with RL 15 you will have better results, just a bit to quick and very low load density as it only fills 60% of the case.

Powder does not work well laying in the case.

Again sure it will go bang but what are you looking for..

Thanks for the replies. I have a bunch of RL7 sitting around for my 45-70. I'll be on pension before I use it all in my guide gun so I just thought I'd try it in a 308. If it's not going to work well then it's not an option.
