Reloading 223.cal

anyways I have been to the range a few times now gun functions flawlessly, hand guard get pretty warm, maybe I am firing it to fast and frequently. I put 200 round through it in about 20 min..

What everyone shooting that is hand loading I used to buy mil-surplus pulled 55 grain bullets from the States... anyone have a source in Canada for mil-surplus bullets I am paying around 36.95 USD for 1000 plus shipping.

These ar's can really chew the bullets up gotta find a better way to feed it...

It's an AR. It can take it. Imagine if you were using 30 round mags on full auto, the way they were designed to function.

Hence the need to roll your own. Factory loads can get expensive, especially when you can easily go through 200-300 rounds at a time.

I am rolling my own thats what this entire post is about... I just am looking for a better source on lead but i doubt anyone in canada will have 1000 for less then 36.95

It would be very hard to find a price like that in Canada.

But if you factor in the legalities and permits to get bullets from the U.S, it is less streeful and less of a hassle to more a little more and buy in Canada.

Hornady makes a .224 55gr FMJBT bullets.IIR I pay around $11.00 per box of 100, taxes in.

Once you figure in the exchange rate, taxes, shipping, export permits fees on the $36.95 U.S. you are pretty close (or just over) to $100.00 Cdn. per 1000.

Wholesale Sports sells 55 gr Rem FMJ and Higginsons sells 55 gr Hornady FMJ for $8/100.

Those are good prices, but the shipping would negate almonst any savings for me here in B.C.

My reloading supplier is 10 mins down the road from me and is also licenced to manufacture ammunition.

WAY too handy.......;)
