I have started reloading 223 in my Dillon 550. I am having trouble with the lip of the case catching on the powder die and not properly seating with the powder funnel and dumping powder onto the press. I assume that I have got something wrong in the setup but can't figure out exactly what. The cases seem very loose and wobble around quite a bit but the baseplate seems to be set correctly. I can run the press by guiding the case into the powder funnel but I am hoping there is a better way as this is rather slow. This is my first rifle cartridge reload. I have done lots of pistol without problems but still learning with rifle. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

All above are good points - also make sure your brass pins are correct for the cartridge being used - both the pins and the shell holder will be stamped with a number 3 for 223. Other items that make cause trouble are your case overall length and need to chamfer if you trim.

Thanks. Sent a message to Dillon asking for the plate and pin numbers but no reply so far. I will check when I get home.

There was a recent post with the same issue it was an issue with the setup of the dies when first installed and the wrong pins I believe a call to Dillon set the loader straight ..

Problem Solved. Me being a dumb A--e. Just because you have changed the plate dozens of times doesn't mean you will do it right. Base plate was loose tightened it up and all is good. Cheers everyone.
