I've been loading Sierra 77 and Hornady 75 on my 550 with IMR 8208 (shorter, thinner stick powder) - much better metering than varget (longer, thicker stick powder) with about a .1 variation at times but usually on target at 23.1. I also experimented with Ramshot Tac that metered just as well (smaller, round granules)
My load for the 75+ grain projectiles are:
Powder / Charge : IMR 8208 XBR - 23.1
Bullet - Sierra 77 TMK / Hornady 75 BTHP
Primer - Remington 7 1/2
Case - IVI
OAL - Sierra 77 TMK (2.257) Hornady 75 (2.250)
Avg Vel - 2725 for both
Gun - Aero Precision Upper with ATRS 20" 223 Wylde Heavy 1:7 Twist
I use a forester full length die and seating die.
I don't crimp and have never had any issues with bullets pushing back. When I had to pull a few hundred to change powder, there was a fair bit of neck tension. Enough for me to feel confident that these are not gonna get pushed back.
