Hey guys,

I'm new to reloading my rifle rounds, and am looking for some advice for a place to start. I'll be reloading .243 WIN for my Ruger M77 Hawkeye. On of my shooting buddies is reloading his .22-250 with Varget powder, and we were thinking about ordering some powder in bulk for both of us, but neither of us are sure if i can use the powder in my loads.

So far, for the most part i'll just be shooting paper/fruit and varmints. No deer/game for a while.

If anyone has any info for a good place to start as far as brands/types to look for that'd be great.

You fellows NEED to purchase a reloading manual and READ IT. The Nosler manual has loads for 70 and 80gr bullets for 243.

There are no SHORT CUTS to Reloading, you fellows need some backround reading before you start refilling brass with powder and seating a bullet on top.

"...Varget is fine..." Yep, but don't buy components, except primers, in bulk until you have worked up a load for your rifle.
Your Ruger has a 1 in 9 rifling twist. It'll prefer heavy bullets. 85 grains and up. That doesn't mean light bullets won't be accurate though. Fast twists are typical in .243 commercial hunting rifles. A lot of 'em get used for varmints and deer sized game.

My 243 loves 38 grains of Varget with Hornady 65 grain V-Max!
No where near listed max load and knocks yotes flat!!!

PURCHASE A LOAD DATA MANUAL AND FOLLOW IT CAREFULLY AND HAVE FUN

Thanks for the Info Guys! Just a quick remark to Fassteel, i've ordered a Lee reloading kit, and i had the supplier include one of the Lee reloading manuals in with the kit, and i fully plan to memorize the book before i start pressing up some shells. I just figured i'd get some basic info to start, as my town always seems to be in short supply of everything to do with reloading. so i was looking for some quick info, so if i see something that is actually in stock, i'd pick up a little bit. This should be a good start, and i can't thank ya'll enough :D
