Reloading 30/06 with a Lee Turret Press & Pro Auto Disk ??

Now that I have done alot of research on the different types of Lee presses, I have decided to spend the little bit extra and buy the Lee classic turret press and then buy all of the other stuff I need seperate, instead of buying the less expensive Deluxe reloading kit.

My main ammunition that I plan on reloading will be 9mm and 45acp. However, I do want to load some 30/06 rounds.

My question is : I plan on buying the pro auto disk powder measure, and attach it to the turret press. Is there any way to load powder with a double disk kit and rifle charging die ???? I have read elsewhere that the maximun rifle ammunition that can be used with this set-up is .308 and that 30/06 is too big/needs too much powder ??

Is my only option to buy the Perfect Powder Measure and a Universal charging die and just mount it seperately on my bench, then use the Turret press seperately after I have put in the powder from the perfect powder measure??? Its not that big of a deal, because I don't plan on loading more than a couple hundred 30/06 rounds per year at the most, but I just don't know if there is any other way of loading 30/06 with the classic turret press?
 
How much will the double disk setup throw? I load mild 30-06 for my Garand and it still takes 47.0gr of IMR4064.

No matter what you do, you must have a scale to verify what your measure is throwing. For the numbers you are talking, you could manually scoop and trickle for 30-06 and use the auto disk for the pistol calibres.

I also use the classic turret press and simply run it as a single stage for my rifle ammo with an RCBS chargemaster combo throwing the powder charges.

I'm not sure how much powder it puts out with the double disc setup, but from what I have read, if you want to use it for 30/06 the best way to load it is to cut the load in half and double pump it, then recheck everytime on a scale just to make sure. It might be worth the extra $30 to buy the Lee perfect powder measure also, to use as a second station and just double check with a scale after ever load, instead of messing around with the double disk set up and giving it two pumps of the handle.

I wanted to see if there was anyone out there with a Lee Turret Press who loads 30/06 and see what the easiest way of doing it ?

The main issue there is that you're doubling your load error -- if it was accurate to .1 grain before, double pumping would only be accurate to .2 grain. It would, however, generate a statistical distribution, so the average error would be a bit less than double (about 1.41 times, if I can still do stats in my head, which is unlikely). But your worst-case would be double the worst-case of a single pump.

I just went and looked at my auto disk chart and the biggest disk cavity will throw 21.1gr of 4064, which will leave you well short of even a starting load for 30-06 if you double stack the disks.

Easiest will be to throw or weigh the charges separately, especially for the small volumes you are talking about.

I like the autodisk for pistol, however I find it maxes out around 39grs of IMR 4320 with the double disks with the max hole.
 
Does anyone out there use the Lee perfect powder measure for rifle loads(double checking on a scale) anlong side with their turret press ? I am trying to do a "one order" for all of my needs from factory sales. Like I said before, I don't plan on using more than 200 30/06 rounds per year right now, so I don't mind if it ends up taking me an hour to reload a couple boxes of 20's.
 
I loaded 30-06 on my Classic Cast with the auto index disabled.

Used a rifle charging die, and I used a Perfect Powder Measure to measure the charge, and then dump it into the rifle charging die.

Got a consistant 2 - 2.5 MOA with that setup. 2" at 100 meters, and 25" at 1000 meters were the groups I achieved using my M1 Garand.

The powder weight is everything.
