reloading 30-30 with .308 150 GR SP?

I have some Speer 150 GR SP .308 as the title mentions that I've used for 30-06.. and wondering if I could use it instead of the 150 GR FN that a recipe recommends for 30-30.

I think this should work, as I'm sure I've purchased SP 30-30 ammo before in the past.. but wanted to get your guys input on it in case its a really bad idea.

Edit: I'm thinking just for firing single loads. I imagine using SP in a tubular magazine would be a bad idea, but if not I'd like to know this too..
 
Are these pointed or round nose bullets? Round nose bullets will be fine in a tube magazine. Pointed bullets are OK if you are willing to load only two rounds; one in the magazine tube and one in the chamber.

They are Spire point , so they don't have a rounded tip, but it is still more pointed than a round nose is.
 
"...Spire point..." Same thing as a spitzer, different marketing department. Not made for tube mags, but the rifle will shoot 'em with no fuss. An SP can cause bad ju-ju in a tube mag just like any other pointed bullet.

Doh.. I was gonna take a photo of one to show how they really dont look like spitzer at all... but then noticed on the box it says - 150 gr ROUND SP.
Can't believe I didn't see that before.. Others in agreement that round SP = fine for tube mag?
No bad juju factor?
 
That 150 grain will be designed to give its best performance at .300 Sav to .30-06 velocities and you may have some expansion issues at .30-30 velocities.
 
I loaded 150 grain Spire point boat-tails in a 30-30. They had to be jammed so far into the case that I had to reduce the powder or they wouldn't eject when unfired. A different powder would negate that issue. Then you're a long way from the lands too and there's a whole other argument as to whether that matters or not. Over all, I was happy with them and will do it again. I was loading into a rotary mag in a Savage 99, the mag would accept the longer bullet but the action length required the COAL to be almost the same as the book length.
