I am new to reloading but have read quite a bit about it both online and in my speer reloading manual. I just did up 50 rounds of .308 and had a few questions about them.
I only have the one kind of powder so far (Hogdon H380). I had bought it for .243 wincester loads and it seems to work well in them. I purchased some Nosler CustomCompetition 155grain HPBT bullets because they were onsale and supposed to be decent. My manual doesn't list these bullets, but it does list 150grn FMJ BT, 165grn HPBT and 168grn HPBT all with a starting load of 45grains and a maximum compressed load of 49 grains of H380 all with magnum primers. I just want to double check that I'll be ok with 45-47 grains of H380 pushing these bullets before I fire them. I can't seem to find any data on Hogdon's website using H380 for .308.
Also, while resizing the new brass, I had a couple of cases where the case neck seems to have folded/indented. Is this caused by too much lube? I've seen dented shoulders because of too much lube. Can I fire them through the sizing die again to fix them or...?
