Reloading 357 Magnum with Titegroup and Small Rifle Primers vice small pistol primers. Only loading minimum loads with Campro plated 158gr bullets and jacketed 158gr bullets. Wanting to use the small rifle primers as I have lots. Will chrono the loads but has anybody used small rifle vice small pistol with Titegroup in 357mag? Not sure if would create a press spike. Will be shooting out of a Ruger Blackhawk 4.62 barrel and lever rifle.

Actually, this month's Handloader magazine (Fantastic publication, BTW.) has a great article about this topic and with components being hard to get, this question will come up more and more. I haven't tried them yet but I might have to in the future.
Couple things to watch for, rifle primers are reportedly harder than pistol primers and might be susceptible to misfires from lighter than required firing pin strikes. Also, rifle primers can be a bit deeper than pistol primers and even when fully seated might stick out slightly instead of being recessed. Start light, only load a few to check it out the seating/functioning and a be vigilant the whole way.
Good Luck.

The large rifle primers are deeper (taller?) than the large pistol, but the small pistol and rifle are the same height.

OP: Let us know how things go.

Been doing it for years and it's been covered here many times. I believe Ganderite did an indepth post a year or two ago.

Might want to approach max loads with a little more caution than usual but it has always worked well for me.

I have a bunch of S & B small primers; package says for rifle and pistol. They work fine in my revolver, but are a bit hard for the lighter hammer spring in my 9mm.

re you using Titegroup as a mild plinker or target load? It is excellent for that.

It is too fast a powder for power loads. For power you want something slower, like Unique, 4227, 2400, Power Pistol, 0r 296.

Target plinking loads in lever action and ruger Blackhawk. I have lots of titegroup and have used the other powders you listed but am out. All my 38spl is used for cowboy shooting in my Ruger Vaquero's.
