I am going to be loading up some 416 Rigby and would like to use my Loadmaster press.
The problem I forsee is the shell plate. From what I gather the 8L plate is the one i need, and I have it as I use it for 45/70.
The issue is the hornady 416 Rigby brass fits too loosely in the shell plate. I can tip the brass and it will come right off of the holder
I don't want to try and resize a case because I am certain it will just pull out and get stuck in the die, which I most definitely do not want to happen
Any one else use a Loadmaster to load this caliber? Is there a different shell plate that will work better? The only info I can find is to use the 45/70 plate for 416 Rigby

I would assume the 378/416/460 weatherby plate would work.

I have a Hornady projector press for lots of rounds but for all my big bores I use a lock-n-load classic.

Well my 500 Jeffery uses a simple lee single stage press that has been drilled and tapped for 1" 14 dies ( getting a rock crusher would have fixed the issue if using bigger dies then the standard 7/8")

If I have to I will get a single stage press in order to reload these, or a good turret press
Was hoping I could use my existing press as i load 45/70, 9.3x62 and 450 marlin already with no issues
There is room for the big rigby case but the damn propriety Loadmaster shell plate is kicking my @ss lol

Lee specifies #8 shell holder for .416 Rigby tried mine it's too loose priming issues. Got Redding #35 shell holder as specified for .416 Rigby no issues. Redding #18 shell holder for .416 Wby.

Here is what one needs for these long rounds for reloading.
The down side to this one is it is in Calgary and shipping will eat up any savings.
This style of press is way stronger than what you are using now (not hacking on Lee Precision btw) there are many happy users who load with it.
A shell catcher, a shell holder (37) and a primer arm are and Bob's yer Uncle.
I know it easy to spend someone else's money, but it is well worth the recommendations.

**RCBS is the shell holder and each manufacture will denote a different number**
