Reloading 44-40 in Uberti Henry

This action uses the old toggle link design and is not as strong as a Win.'92 or newer Marlin, even with better metals that are avail. today!! I wouldn't go above 44/40 factory pressures with your rifle...enjoy it for what it is or was!! If you want something with more snap buy a new '94 Marlin in 44 Mag.

I reload 44-40 for my remigton 11/2, it is the stronger of the rolling block recievers, but was black powder(Made from 1861 to 1868). Try powders like Unique, factory loads are all from 200 gr bullets and up,use horn 44 cal 180 hp XTP bullets and the recoil and pressures due to a lighter bullet will be more pleasant. I use 10 gr Unique, win std lr primers, win cases, and hornady bullets, made with lee dies and press.
enjoy your rifle ,the cartridge is old but fun to shoot.
