I was told these can be reloaded using a plastic shot holder that fits into the case like a bullet would ... I was hoping some one had some knowledge on this .. I was told he got his from Speer but that was a while back .. I have a box of original ones but they do not have a plastic shell holder that sticks out of the case .. They are flush with the top of the case with what appears to be a piece of plastic because you can see the shot though it

I don't know if the speer shot caps really improve anything other than maybe giving you more shot capacity. you can load them like a brass shot shell with a card wad over powder and a card wad over shot then give them a heavy crimp just make your shot load about the same as bullet weight if possible

I have used the Speer shot capsules. They increase shot capacity.

I found that a mild load would shoot a pattern. As I added powder, the twist would blow the pattern.

I tested with steel 48 oz juice cans. The mild load would shoot through one side, but not both.

Forgot ... I am shooting these in a smooth bore Stevens model 101... 44 shot .... single shot shotgun so there is no twist and there is room for the plastic thingy as lenght of the case does not effect a single shot as much from I have been told

the old stevens garden gun figured that's what you had you might even be able to get away with some trimmed .410 hulls as well. you could try to make some paper shot cups I never could find the speer shot capsules here but anyone who imports speer bullets may be able to get some for you

If you can't source the shot cups then you can make overpower cards and load them flush with the case mouth.
I have done it with 357 with good success.
Take a sacrificial case and sharpen the case mouth as best you can then use it as a punch to punch out perfect sized cards. Drill out the primer pocket and push out your new cards.
