reloading 45 ACP$$$

Any one know how much per rd when you reload a 45 ACP . when you buy your bullets, powder & primers. Not casting. Thanks for any help.

brass : free
bullets: 60/1000
primers: 40/1000
powder: $35 (5gn tg per round)

works out around 6.75 tax in for 50 or 0.135/round

The bullets are 60/1000 (hard cast) picked up locally, but if you are going to buy plated or fjm then your looking at $150 tax in for 1000.

This would bring the price to $11.25/50 (0.225/round) which is still considerably less then $28/50 at my local range.

I reload berry's bullets 45acp 230gr rn. I didn't have any brass to start with so the cost for case, bullet, primer, powder for me is about 25 cents (1/2 price of store bought).

Plated bullets (Berry's) run $150 tax in for 1000, primers $35, powder $35.

Using tight group I get about 1500 loads for a pound of powder. So About 9.25 per box of 50 using plated with today's prices.

Casting drops it to under $5.

I buy my cast (pistol) bullets in bulk. I figure I load 9mm and 45ACP for about $0.15 per round, just working it out in my head. I did buy a couple Lee 6-gang microband style moulds to try out this summer. I've not loaded them yet. If they shoot straight, as cast and tumble-lubed, I will go that route in future. If not, I'm not going to spend days putting pistol bullets through a lube sizer. Been there, done that, got old fast.

I suspect tumble lube is the fastest period, but the new craze is powder coating them. Seems they can be pushed to jacketed speeds without issue.

gunsdora,

if you're looking to reload for as cheap as possible, you can get free brass at the range, and look up Hummason in Ancaster, ON. There isn't anywhere that I'm aware of that sells reloading supplies here in the Bay, and if you're going to travel anyways Hummason has the best price on powder, primers and cast lead bullets that I've found remotely close. You can get it down to about $160 w/ tax per 1000 depending on how much powder you buy at a time. I don't know where people are finding $.06 .45 bullets, but I'd like to know!

Although, at $.33 ea for the Norinco .45 through CanAm (and free shipping), I know that for me right now it doesn't make sense to reload on a single stage press in FMJ.
