I had a bunch of 5.56 and was informed not to use it in my .223 so I pulled all the bullets and was wondering if I could use the primed cases or if they need to be resized or anything? I picked up the Lyman manual, a LEE hand press (don't laugh I don't have much room) some LEE dies and will be using Hornady 53gr hp match bullets and Benchmark powder. If they need to be resized I would assume that the primers need to be fired so I could just chamber the shells and pull the trigger?

Use the primed cases as is. Just charge the cases with the right amount of powder and seat the bullets and you're good to go. Don't waste the good primers by firing them off. You can re-use the bullets too if they're not significantly marked by the pulling process. Slightly marked bullets can be used for plinking loads or when sighting-in a scope.

I often shoot mil spec 5.56 in my Winchester 70 and have never had a pressure issue. My own loads are hotter and faster.

just a note,if you decide to use the powder from 556 cases and you dump it
all together are you sure it is all from the same lot? factories don't use
canister powders. if mixed together it can change a lot. take care.
