I am looking at maybe getting started in reloading and was wondering if you all could recommend some books.

From other posts here I gather The ABC's of Reloading is pretty good place to start. Any others for the absolute beginner?

Also, I noticed companies like Hornady, Speer, Nosler have reloading books out. Are they just specifically for their own components, loads ect, or are they general reloading guides.

Thanks in advance.

I learnt everything I needed to know from the Lee reloading manual. I've since acquired more as a lot of the load data is complementary. Every manual I've seen (Speer, Hornady, Lyman, Nosler, Lee) have sections explaining the reloading process, as in general steps, safety precautions, etc. but they obviously highlight their own products and can offer certain instructions specific to their gear.

I also have the ABCs of Reloading, it's definitely a good starting point but it doesn't come with any data. If you're short on cash at all, I would suggest just getting the Lee, which contains instructions as well as a hefty quantity of data culled from various powder and bullet manufacturers.

Ditto on the ABCs of Reloading...good book to have.
I have the Hornady 7th edition, and the Lee "Modern Reloading second edition". Comprehensive books to have.

Lebaron's in Mississauga had the Lyman book in stock in the gun room when I was in there a few weeks back. I'd say your best be is to start out with the Lee reloading manual and read it from front to back....less the data tables of course. The thing to remember about Richard Lee........he's excellent at marketing his own products. Take what he says....like "this is all you need" with a grain of salt. Sometimes, you can get by with the bare minimum of tools. Hell, I "could" rebuild an engine with dollar store tools. The question is, do I want to have to baby the whole process, or do I want to bash on things a bit and "git er done" ??? Lee stuff, for the most part, doesn't react well to bashing. Still, his book is very well written and expains things very well.
