Reloading costs question.

The real priceless aspect of reloading is having the ability shoot what you want when you want. Before I got into reloading I don't how many times I left a store disapointed that the ammo I wanted was sold out, backordered or whatever. Then there is the aspect of reloading obsolete ammo that would not be available otherwise. There is a great deal more to reloading than just price.

That is so true man, Where I am there are 2 gunshops in town and I can't tell you how many times I have been to 2 of the 3 (there is another one outside of town but I haven't got there yet) and left empty handed because the stuff I was looking for was sold out.

Now that I reload, when I see that primers or powder or somthing I need for the process is in stock I pick it up and can make as much ammo as I need when I need it.

That's a lot better than the past, finding that I am out of 9mm ammo on a Sunday when I wanted to go shooting and the shop I go to is closed.

COST OF RELOADS;
As an example, I use a 1050 Dillon for my .45acp, have many pistols and a couple of SMGs in this caliber, could not afford factory ammo....

On the other hand a few years ago a I bought a Dillon 650 with 3 complete tool heads, .41 mag, .44mag and .45LC it does NOT take long to get pay back, if I go to the range and fir 4-5 boxes of the above it mounts up quick.

And as others have noted, you can load exactly what you want for your specific applications.

Then again I do have to agree with the others who mentionned that once you get into it you need more guns to shoot the additional ammo you produce, you CAN'T WIN but it sure is a lot of fun....

I wonder how much I have "saved" in the last 50 years ??

There are a few variables here , Are you loading pistol or rifle or shot gun? Do you own your loading gear or do you plan to start buying it? What quality do you plan to go with? Thats just the start.
