Does anyone have any pet data? Internet search yields little data for this wildcat. Probable safe to use 338 win mag data less 5% as a start?

Rifle is a VZ mauser with a 22 inch bbl so I'm thinking IMR 4350 will burn more completely and accurately than IMR 4831.

Tks

I would start with .338 loads less 10%, just to be safe. After working up a couple of combinations you should get a feel for how hot the loads are running compared to the .338 load.

Barrel length has little to do with the best powder choice and the 8mm bore means you are now a bit more overbore than the .338 was. I would try 4350 and RL-19 first and maybe 4831 wth some of the heavier bullets.

1 - You should take a look at 325 WSM load data since it is a 8mm-300WSM.
By comparing 300 WSM and 300 Win Mag load data and then looking at 325 WSM load data you should get a good idea of what works in a 8-338 Win Mag.

2 - You could also use a powder which works for both 300 Win Mag and 338 Win Mag for a give bullet weight (for example 200gr) and simply interpolate the loads (average out the starting and maximum load).

... for the 200 grain tips Nosler partition and Speer spitzer( I only use one bullet weight for each of my rifles, is easy to develop a load, I do not have to keep changing adjustment and less paper trail )I got lucky at the third tryal... IMR 4831 71.0gr., Win brass, WLRM primers, cartridge o.a.l. 3.340"

Found this (not MY data) so use at own risk.
