Hi I'm new to reloading military surplus. Is there a good book out there that has data for most milsurp cartridges? 7.5x55mm swiss, 6.5x55mm swede, and .303 Brit mainly for now, maybe 8mm mauser later.

Is there also a general rule for how to treat the loads on the military actions (6.5mm swede in particular), or any models/factories that have special conditions?

Thanks guys.

Lyman manual #50 has lots of information on many military rounds. Also hornady has a lot of good information. The 6.5x55 swed has some weaker actions so they shouldn't be hot loaded. My deer I worked out for my Krag is 1.2 grs under maximum due to being more accurate than heavier charges. I have shot 2 deer with it over the years 40 ft and 340 yards. Military surplus works well for hunting like any round if used properly.

Every loading manual will have loading data for these surplus rife calibers. Nothing special about the caliber or rifles.

Just remember to start with the START load. This will make safe ammo that is good for plinking out to 300 yards. It will be easier on the rifle and your shoulder, too.

The same powder can be use in all these calibers. You need to buy a jug of a medium speed rifle powder - whatever is on sale. Look for;
4895, 4064, RL15, BLC2, H335, 748, 760, varget, RL15, 4350.
