Hi All,

I have recently purchased SAKO A7 RoughTech in .308 win. It will be used for target shooting and hunting. I am debating which die or die set I should be getting for the.308 win.
just a little background: I am not an expert in reloading but I have been reloading for the last couple of years for .270 win, used factory ammo brass to reload, mostly federal brass. I have been using Lee FL die with Lee Seating and then added RCBS neck re-sizing for my .270.

I have decided to go Lapua brass - mostly based on good reviews. I was thinking to get a good quality seating and neck sizing die, budget is under 200. I want to buy something which I do not have to upgrade later. I will be using IMR 4064 and have not decided on bullets yet.

Thank you in advance!

I use RCBS or Dillon dies myself for all my reloading. I'm using RCBS for 308Win right now, and it works great with Lapua brass.

For target shooting, I can recommend the Hornady A-max. For my barrel (a 5R with a 1:11.25 twist) it likes the 178gr ones.

Redding would be a good choice in my opinion. I have redding, hornady, lee and forster. Forster are my first choice but they would most likely exceed your $200 budget. I have a deluxe redding set that I added the micrometer seating stem to and they are great for the money. I started with a lee set for my 308 and they produced accurate rounds.

I run 4064 with 178 A-max. I also have a load with IMR 4895 under a 175 nosler custom competition. I cant suggest a suitable hunting bullet as I don't hunt with my 308. Good luck.

For a budget of 200 this is the way I'd go all found at X reloader
LEE 308 WIN COLLET DIE ONLY
$30.63

FORSTER 308 WIN FL SIZER & BR SEATER SET
$123.68

Redding or forster dies are great, but only if you value ease of micrometer based seating of the die. (chasing the lands) If you are a set it and forget it kinda guy, or if you are happy with Moa results, the expense is not worth it.
