Anyone loading this cartridge? I want to get started for a Skorpion I'm purchasing, have a bunch of new PPU brass, CCI 500 primers, 71 gr Campro FCP round nose bullets, however all I have for powders on hand are Unique and Power Pistol.

Has anyone here loaded for this cartridge with these powders? My Lee 2nd edition loading manual shows 2.5 gr of Unique for both starting and max loads? Neither it nor my Hornady manual show any load with Power Pistol but I have seen some mention of it being used in some of my online searching.

I think I'll probably load some with Unique at 2.5 - 2.7gr movi g up .1 gr at a time and see how they function and what velocities I get, but I suspect I will have "fun" getting such light loads of Unique to meter well in my Lee powder drop, this is what had me contemplating using Power Pistol in the 1st place.

Power pistol will work and meter well. Try 3.0 and work up.

Thanks, I'll give that a try, appreciate the info. My experience loading Power Pistol for 40 S&W and Unique for 45 Colt indicates I can probably expect less soot with the PP as well which is another added bonus along with better metering.

I use 1.5-1.7 Clays.

I don't currently have any Clays as I just haven't needed it yet for any of the few cartridges I load for currently or previously( 40 S&W, 45 Colt, .308 Win, .223 Rem, 375 Ruger, 7mm Rem) but perhaps it'll find a home on my reloading bench at some point.

I use hp38. Mainly because I'm deathly afraid of mixing up powders and want to stick with only one pistol powder for everything... If Unique is what you have, go with that - no reason for it to not work.

I have some rounds now loaded with both Unique and Power Pistol, just have to wait to get the gun now to run them over the chrono and see how they print on paper before I go and load up a pile of them.

I load .32 Auto. Bullet 85 Grain Hornady JHP pushed by 1.5 Grain Alliant Red Dot.

Tedious Business to load for this.

Cheers

Tedious indeed, but I don't mind too much, at least it's a cheap cartridge to reload, miserly in powder consumption and the 71gr Campro FCP bullets are pretty cheap too. I'm used to tedious anyways, all I have is a single stage press.
