Hi all
I have got dies and brass for the 7.5x55 Swiss round, but am a bit confused about he bullet size. Is it true that you can use readily available .308 (.30 cal) diameter bullets? Any type (ie. boattail) or weight in particular works best for this cartridge?

Many thanks!

Yes, .308" bullets are fine. I have used 150gr PRVI FMJ and 168gr Hornady Amax with good results. I have also seen a number of people who use the 175gr Sierra Matchking and like it.

308 bullet, be careful depending on which rifle you are reloading for. The K31 has a shorter COAL than published data in reloading manuals. Do some research before starting. Look At Swissrifles for info.

7.5x55 Swiss it's a .308 (.30) caliber, and if you are reloading for a k31 you are also fine for the overall length.
Only the Swiss 1889 is a bit different, brass being 7.5x53.5 mm .

150 to 180 gr work well, and I have heard reports of 125 gr bullets shooting well. IMR4064, Re15, Varget and H4350 are good powder choices.

Hornady bulk 150gr FMJ are cheap and shoot as good as match bullets. Load to the cannalure and your oal is gold. I always use .308 win data when working up a load for my K31, and settled on Varget with the 150's.

Just loaded up my first batch of ammo for my K31's. 40gn H4895,150gn Prvi FMJ .308 bullets,CCI LR primers,OAL 2.9". See how they go next time I can get out to the range.
