So my uncle picked up this rifle from an auction and asked me if it was possible for me to make him some rounds for it. Now I’m starting from scratch as he doesn’t have any brass or projectiles. I was wondering if anyone had any info regarding a projectile that I could use or make and brass I could reshape. Also if there was a powder recommendation that has worked for you.

By the off chance someone actually has complete rounds that they were willing to part with I’m sure he’d love to get them.

I used to shoot an 1886 Winchester rifle in 40-82. Rifle and all reloading supplies long gone now.

I used Starline 45-90 brass. Rusty Wood has them in stock https://www.rustywood.ca/shop/starline-brass-cases/ and sized them through 40-82 dies. Dies aren't cheap though. Mine came directly from CH-4D http://www.ch4d.com/products/dies/caliber-list?filter-col=caliber&filter=40-82

I cast my own bullets - Lyman 403 169, 245 gr. I still have 300 bullets available, lubed, sized and ready for reloading - $20/100 + shipping. You could also check with Jethunter http://www.jetbullets.com on this forum for bullets. I didn't see them listed on his website but he may be able to make them for you. I tried Bertram brass from Australia but found it more expensive, very thin and subject to crushing / cracking / creasing. For powders, I tried IMR 4198 and IMR 3031 but settled on Unique. If you want target loads, I can give you my data.
