Sometimes I read a post about reloading and it sounds like you guys are speaking a different language lol.

Cabelas had that starter reloading kit on sale and a bunch of us bought them. I know a lot of guys got them as secondary/back up kits, but I think I might not be the only guy that knows almost nothing about it.

Any recommendations for resources for the guy with zero knowledge about reloading?

Maybe a simple book with just the basics off of amazon?

At this point, I’m just interested in how to use the press and various basic parts etc. A good YouTube video?

Thanks

I don't know of any youtube videos offhand, but it's a good way to learn.
Second only to first hand, one on one training, from an experienced(safe) reloader.

The best hands down way to introduce yourself to reloading is find someone local for a sit down demonstration, bring a complimentary six pack, and observe the ratio of two ears and one mouth.

Several times a year I bring in a few newbies for "loading for newbies" session in my shop. Once you see it done and have stepped through the process, the black magic goes away and common sense of measuring and following charts comes together. There are hundreds of different tools and gizmos. You don't need them all but you do need some basic stuff. Its best not to open your wallet for reloading gear until you have a basic idea of what you're in for.

Lee's Modern Reloading is only $27 at Budget
It's a good reloading book to start with.
Read it twice before starting (most of it is load tables).

I preferred watching other experienced reloaders and using youtube to learn. The basics are simple but it really comes down to what you want to reload. There is a big difference between a pistol cartridge and a hunting reload and a precision rifle reload. I load straight wall pistol for 99% of my reloading so precision doesn't play into most of my reloading. It comes down to how fast can I crank the handle on my press. For rifle reloading the time is spent in case prep which is a huge important part of the process where as for me, case prep beyond cleaning is almost non-existent.

Figure out what you are going to start with and we can help you with the process and what you need to be aware of.

I'm surprized nobody's warned you yet. Reloading can be very addictive.
With some, it gets to the point where you only shoot, so you have the empty cases to reload.:d

ABC's of Reloading is good. Reading a cautionary message from a guy who has hooks for hands will make you take this hobby seriously. Its full of good info also!
