I know that this one has probably been beaten to death, but I am NOT looking for match loads, rather ball-type loads with 150 grain fmj's and 165 sp's. I am loading for my M14 and have a quantity of H4895, BLC-2, W748 and military brass. I know that charges should be reduced by 10% with military brass, but has anyone figured out a good, normal pressure load already? Thanks in advance.

Try this load for the M-14. All the usual rules apply.

155 A-max
44.0 748
BR2 primers
Commercial case like Federal, Winchester, or Rem

My m-14 would shoot this into tight goods and it is easy to load.

That sounds like good info. I have pails of military brass though and want to use it. I also already have a quantity of 150's and 165's. That is why I am looking for good loads for those weights using military brass.

This was the US Army match load M852 using 168 Sierra Matchkings before Alliant took over the contract for Lake City from Olin (Winchester). They were using LC match brass which is a lot heavier than commercial. All I did was substitute 155's for 168's.

The tried and true NRA highpower load for the M14 was the Sierra® #2200. This 168gr bullet is the first to try: if this bullet doesn’t shoot in your rifle, the weapon is cursed. More than I know anything else in life, stick 41.5gr H4895 in an LC or IVI case with a CCI® BR2™ primer and seat to 2.800 inches oal. Done and done. Then go messing around with “better” bullets now that you have a sure thing to return to :sniper:

Its worth mentioning the AMU has full time armourers, oodles of parts, and
rebuilt their guns every year using 168s in their M14s....

Has anyone tried the Sierra 168 BTHP or the Nosler J4 on deer sized game? I know other members use the 165 Sierra BTHP in their .308's for game, but I was wondering if the match bullets will expand reliably too.
