I just bought a model 52 and was wondering if there is anything special about reloading for these pistols.I've loaded several thousand standard rounds, but haven't used the flush seated wadcutters before. Thanks in advance.
The one fellow I knew that was reloading for a 52 S&W used full wad cutter bullets and seated them almost 100% into thecase.
They were also loaded pretty light and was very accurate.
Im putting 3.1grs of HP38 under 148gr Speer HBWC 100% flush seat for my Colt National Match......im sure that would work for yours to?? If you do a search in the pistols and revolvers section and look up Colt national match.......you will see powder suggestions for both pistols.
I've put thousands of 148 double ended wadcutters over 2.7 of Bullseye thru a couple of Mdl. 52s. Tried lots of other loads up and down but always came back to the 2.7 for cloverleaf holes.. The hollow-bases will usually tend to lead up, thus the double-ended wadcutters.
"...some say 2.7 gr of bullseye powder..." 2.5 to 2.8 grains of Bullseye has been the standard 148 grain WC .38 Special load for eons.
A Smith 52 will only feed WC's, as I recall. Seat 'em flush with the case mouth or a wee bit above.
